When you’re a setter, you will spend almost all of your time in one of two stances: your athletic stance, and your “down and ready” stance.
In simple terms the ready position for passing is as follows. You want to have your legs just over shoulder width apart with your weight being on your toes not on your heels. You’re knees should be bent and you want to ensure you are not sitting backwards but instead your knees over your toes.
Pay attention to the left/right/set footwork. The right foot should be planted and forward before contacting the ball. Players will tend to sacrifice this footwork as they come off the figure eight movement. Jump sets should be monitored to ensure the ball is contacted high in the air.
